In Place: Corner Burger

Corner Burger is the burger bar of chef and restaurateur Isaac Correa, creator of Correa's successful restaurant chain. He is door to door from his own confectionery Upside Down Cake Company, on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya. The gastronomic history at CBBG 76 is absolutely New York: natural products, spices, grills, European, Indian and Pan-Asian motifs - all based on American classics. There is, for example, a Caprese burger, in which, in addition to beef cutlets, fresh tomato and English muffin, there is basil, mozzarella and sauces from sun-dried tomatoes and homemade mayonnaise with pesto. Two people are responsible for the meal here - myself Isaac and Chef Eugene Openkin. Isaac is the author of all dishes, the task of Eugene is to skillfully repeat them every day.

10 FACTS ABOUT CBBG 76

CBBG 76 is a project of American restaurateur and chef Isaac Correa and Iconfood, which also owns Upside Down Cake Co., a Montalto pizzeria, and Black Market Contemporary American Restaurant.

CBBG 76 is an abbreviation, it stands for "Corner Burger Big Georgian 76". Near the house in New York, where Isaac Correa lived, there used to be a CBGB nightclub, on the site of which is now the John Varvatos store. And recently, in the same place, through several houses, the chef's bar Daniel Bulu DBGB opened. Isaac Correa decided to transfer this tradition of the formation of names using the abbreviation to Moscow soil. By the way, the DBGB interior clearly resembles the Black Market.

The Corner Burger restaurant menu has 13 permanent burgers, the composition of which should be of interest to burger lovers who are ready to go beyond the classic combination of meatballs with ketchup. For example, the menu includes Pilgrim (turkey, red onions, tomatoes glazed in balsamic vinegar, Swiss cheese, Five cereals toasts), Spartan (beefburger with eggplant, tomato, fresh spinach and tzatziki sauce) and "Duck under the covers" (stewed duck, spicy cucumbers, leeks and Hoisen sauce, served in bao cakes). A.

In Corner Burger, in addition to burgers from the permanent menu, in limited quantities they prepare special ones for all significant Russian and American holidays. For example, the Pumpkin Hell Burger broke the monthly sales record for many popular burgers in three days of Halloween. After the holiday, guests wrote down a book of complaints and suggestions asking them to return the burger. Now he is on a permanent menu.

Desserts in the restaurant are prepared by the Englishman Suki Maman, the pastry chef of all the institutions of Isaac Correa. Everything is prepared next door, in the kitchen of the UDC confectionery, located door to door with a burger bar.

In CBBG 76, only one special sauce is given to burgers - cheese sauce. Typically, the dish comes with a standard set - ketchup and mustard, and cheese is not even on the menu. But if you ask, they will give it.

Photos hanging on the walls of Corner Burger were taken by Leonid Leontyev, and the idea of shooting - to show different fast food and different people on the street - belongs to Isaac. One of the pictures shows a real guest worker at the construction site of the Montalto pizzeria. On the other is Isaac’s son on a skateboard and with a hot dog. Next up is a guy on a bicycle with pizza and a pretty girl with a burger. Everything was filmed in a few days under bad weather conditions.

For a check-in at Foursquare, when ordering a burger at Corner Burger, they give beer or lemonade as a gift.

Corner Burger cooks an average of 1,620 burgers and 1,245 servings of french fries per month (not counting the fries that come with burgers). The most popular burger on the menu is the Corner Burger.

On weekends, until 4 pm, CBBG 76 organizes brunches that cook various omelets - usually they are not on the burger bar menu.
